Amore Reiterates Need For Independent Investigation Of Galvin's Office

"Secretary Galvin’s refusal to bring in an outside investigator suggests he’s just not interested in providing taxpayers with an honest and thorough accounting of the wrongdoing associated with this scandal. I once again am calling on the proper authorities throughout state government to relieve the Securities Division of their investigative duties and conduct an impartial investigation on behalf of Massachusetts taxpayers."

Swampscott - Faced with evidence proving that over a dozen of his employees improperly engaged in many hours of campaign activity during office hours, Secretary of State Bill Galvin has launched an internal investigation. Last week’s Boston Globe report identified instances in which Galvin’s employees were drawing a regular day of public pay while criss-crossing the state on behalf of his campaign to deliver signatures.

After appointing a subordinate in the Securities Division to conduct an internal review of his office, Secretary Galvin suggested this was a matter of improper timekeeping by rogue employees mismanaging their sick and vacation time, not a well orchestrated and devised taxpayer-funded campaign operation organized by the Secretary himself. This in itself begs to question the Secretary's commitment to conducting a fair and rational audit of his employee's intentions and actions.

“Mr. Galvin’s decision to use his own handpicked employees to investigate allegations of his own malfeasance shows a clear lack of judgement” said Anthony Amore, candidate for Secretary of the Commonwealth.
