"Civility is an essential cornerstone of a functioning government, and although artful ferocity sometimes has its place in the public square, there should be an underlying code of decorum for those wishing to gain the trust of Massachusetts voters."

Amore Calls for Civility Leading into Second Democratic Primary Debate

August 24, 2018

BOSTON -- Anthony Amore, the Republican candidate for Secretary of State, issued the following statement leading into the second Democratic primary debate between William Galvin and Josh Zakim:

"After days of attack ads bombarding Massachusetts voters with vicious rhetoric about each other, I am calling on Mr. Galvin and Mr. Zakim to talk about actual issues pertaining to the office in today’s debate. Their last meeting deprived citizens of what should have been a healthy debate about their visions for the office, such as their positions on noncitizen voting and a long-term election security plan," said Amore. "Civility is an essential cornerstone of a functioning government, and although artful ferocity sometimes has its place in the public square, there should be an underlying code of decorum for those wishing to gain the trust of Massachusetts voters. I’m looking forward to debating either candidate come September.”
